Knife-Edged Gate Valve

Knife gate valves are a type of shutoff valve used in a wide range of industries. They are designed to isolate thick fluids, wastewater, and slurries. The knife gate has a sharp edge that is designed to cut through the fluid or material being isolated.

A knife gate valve is used to shut off flow for highly viscous liquids or liquids with a high solids content. In general, this is achieved with a thin metal blade, known as a “knife,” that is moved into the closed or open position either manually or automatically with an actuator.

Two Types of Knife Edged Gate Valve

On the basis of actuation, the knife edge valve can be subdivided into manual, electrical and mechanical type. The hand wheel is used in the manual type, stepper motor for the electric type and the pneumatic cylinder for the mechanical type. The materials used for manufacturing the valve body and gate is SS304 and SS316.
